It was probably the completion of the Burj Al Arab that made the World stand up and notice Dubai as a serious global destination spot for tourists and globe trotters. Since then there has been many wonderful hotels built in the City and it always seems like there is yet another hotel built and recently opened to cater for the vast influx of visitors. To name but a few of the more famous properties apart from the Burj there are Emirates Towers, The Royal Mirage, The Ritz Carlton, Atlantis, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Grosvenor House, Mina Seyahi, Grand Hyatt Deira, Al Bustan, the list really is endless for a City the size of Dubai it really is quite amazing that they continue to fill these rooms and occupancy to date still hovers around the 90% mark.All the major chain`s of hotels have been here for many years now and some are just setting up, the household names that we all recognize are Meridien, Rotana, Hyatt, Sheraton, Intercontinental, Novatel, Crowne Plaza and other smaller three and four star operators that are more Gulf based.
Most of the hotels here offer a lot more value for money than some of their global competitors particularly in the way of luxury of furnishings and rooms. Some of the hotels have quite breathtaking interiors made from the highest quality materials and high end designer names. The numbers of tourists coming to Dubai is continually on the up, one of the reasons for this is the all year round guaranteed sunshine and almost a zero percent crime rate, apart from these two major draws there is also the abundance of shopping and malls to keep the shopaholics happy when they are tired of the beaches. The beaches here are also very nice, although not on par with some of the tropical islands around the World they are at least free from any pollution and garbage.
The prices are very reasonable to fly to Dubai now compared to a few years ago with more and more airlines putting the City on their flight paths or as a stop over route onto Asia.
