The Future Of Dubai

The Future Of Dubai

Dubai has already established itself as one of the popular destinations around the world, and can already boast some of the most impressive hotels, entertainment facilities and breathtaking man made structures and real estate to be seen around the globe. But don’t think its going to stop there. There is plenty more already under construction. Here is a little look at some of the projects you can expect to enjoy at some point soon.

Dubai Land

When you set about building an area to become the world's number one tourist attraction you need to be thinking outside the box, and you need to think big. And that is exactly what you will find is the case with Dubai's newest mega project, Dubailand. Describing itself as the ultimate entertainment and leisure destination, Dubailand certainly looks like it could deliver on the hype. At a cost of around $20billion and set to cover over 3 billion sq ft, it will redefine the standards for all other theme parks around the world. It will consist of 45 mega projects, which in turn will be broken down further into 200 sub developments. All added together the project will be around twice as large as the world's current biggest theme park, Disney World. Some of the more interesting attractions include:

Dubai Sports City

A development which aims to become the centre point for all things sporting in Dubai, Dubai Sports City will be set over 500 million square feet next to the Dubai Aerodrome.  This sports and lifestyle area will feature top of the range sporting facilities including both indoor and outdoor multipurpose stadiums as well as hockey and cricket stadium. Together all this will provide the most modern and comprehensive sporting venue in the Middle East.

Yet Dubai Sports City doesn’t just stop there. It has also teamed up with some of the largest names in sport to provide a number of sports academies here. Manchester United have a soccer school set to be opened here, along with a David Lloyd tennis academy, Butch Harmon school of Golf, and the ICC will also have a cricketing school, and they have now moved their cricket headquarters from London to Dubai Sports City. And to round things off, there will also be an 18-hole Ernie Els designed golf course. Combine all this with a good selection of freehold property as well, and you can see why Dubai Sports City has been creating such a stir.

Dubai Snow Dome.

Also worthy of mention is the Dubai Snow Dome. The Middle East is not really somewhere you would associate with winter activities, but the Snowdome will bring all of this and more to Dubai at a cost of $1billion. The 75 meter tall dome will contain only real snow, around 6000 tons, and aims to provide a complete winter experience for visitors.  Its entrance will consist of two giant columns of ice, as you can expect facilities to include toboggan run, rotating ski slope, warm and cold spas and a snow castle. The project will also feature hotels, shopping and eating areas plus even some freehold real estate.

Dubai Waterfront

The Dubai Waterfront will be brought to you by developers Nakheel, the same people behind the Palm Jumeirah and the World Dubai, so you can expect good things. Set to be the largest man made development in the world, it will be built on the remaining Dubai coastline, situated next to the Palm Jebel Ali, which the Waterfront will form an arc around. The full size of the Dubai waterfront can perhaps be better comprehended by the fact it will extend Dubai's shoreline length by some 820 kilometers, around 12 times the current length.  And at over 440 square kilometers, nothing on such a large has ever been attempted before, with the project set to be several times the size of Manhattan and providing homes for just under one and a half million people. Consisting of a number of zones, Downtown, Uptown, The Peninsula, Madinat Al Arab, The Palm Boulevard, The Riviera, Courniche, Exchange, Boulevard and Al Ras, it will also feature 42 miles of canals running throughout the development.  There will be a huge amount of commercial, residential and industrial real estate on offer throughout the area, with the focal point of the project being the shoreline area of Madinat Al Arab. Madinat Al Arab will be marked out by a 750 meter tower at its centre called Al Burj, which will be one of the tallest towers in the world. Overall the Dubai Waterfront looks set to redefine what was previously thought possible, and will no doubt become a new symbol of Dubai's prosperity.

Burj Dubai

Making headlines for all the right reasons, the Burj Dubai whilst not yet completed has already reached a height that makes it the world's tallest building and freestanding structure. And everyday it continues to grow that little big bigger. The tower draws its design from the local Hymenocallis desert flower, and has captured attention from all over the globe. Looking different from each angle, the tower has been designed so as to maximize views from all apartments, and will feature a lake at its base.

With an interior designed by none other than Giorgio Armani, you can expect the inside to be as impressive as the exterior.  Armani will also open his first hotel in the lower sections of the tower. With a final height not released by developers Emaar but rumored to be over 800 meters, the $8 billion Burj Dubai project will provide around 700 of some of the most sought after apartments in the world. And with restaurants and leisure facilities within the tower, plus all else that’s on offer within the rest of the 500 acre Down Town Burj Dubai project such as the world's largest shopping mall, you can rest assured of your every need being catered to here.
