Bars and Clubs
Dubai is now beginning to establish quite a reputation for its
nightlife, but many new to the city are still quite surprised of the
extent and the intensity of the Dubai night life and club scene. After
all this is a Muslim City, so it may be a touch surprising to find so
many well frequented bars and clubs on offer, but Dubai is a diverse
and tolerant city, and as a result entertainment options at night are
well catered for. This certainly wasn’t always the case, during the
1980's there were but a handful of traditional style pubs with which
the expatriates could keep themselves entertained. But with the arrival
of large numbers of Lebanese to Dubai, demand for something a bit more
substantial began to grow, the results of which can be witnessed today.
With a number of big clubs aiming to become Dubai's number one night
spot, each place is constantly trying to outdo the next, so be it with
the most outrageous décor, the biggest and best DJs, or high
exclusivity, Dubai's clubs are always looking to stay on top.
Whilst most clubs stay open to 3am, the general trend is that most places only really get going after midnight. Whilst most nights there is something going on somewhere, Thursday and Friday are the main night to party. During the week there are of course other events held, such as the ever popular ladies nights. The large majority of clubs are to be found in hotels so to abide by alcohol rules. Drinks prices are a little on the high side in most venues, but most clubs don’t charge entry fees except on special events nights.
But it's not all about clubbing until the early hours of the morning. There are certainly more down to earth options should you wish, with a number of such establishments offering a more relaxed environment and dress codes. So it’s the fun of karaoke, or just a more welcoming environment, you too can find something to suit your tastes. And for those who like nothing more than sipping on a drink whilst enjoying a great view, then Dubai's bars and clubs will certainly put a smile on your face. Many bars have terraces with spectacular views out over the Arabian Gulf, which you can sit back, relax and enjoy. Definitely a very popular past time during the Winter months. And for those of you looking to frequent a number of differing bars in one night without having to hop in a taxi every time, then there is the Madinat Jumeirah. The Souk Madinat complex contains over 40 bars and restaurants all under the one roof, and is headed up by Dubai mega club Trilogy.
